Chapter summary 1

At first Julie did not know how to get food or talk to the wolves. Later she slowly learned how to talk to the wolves and get food. She left her home because she hated her husband, Daniel. She named all the wolves different names. She soon learned about all the wolves and if they were nice or not. She also thinks about her pen pall and about going to San Francisco. She uses caribou poo as fuel for her fire. She now stays on wolf time though. She calls the wolves her new family.

Chapter summary 2

This part happens before the first part of the story. Julie must go to school and live with her aunt Martha. He father’s canoe washed up on shore. She goes to marry Daniel but he has a few problems. Her father told her to marry Daniel when she was 13 to get away from Aunt Martha. Later a man in a car stops by Julie and a man named Mr. Pollock asks her to be his daughter’s pen pall. She says yes. Later she runs away. I wonder why her father wanted her to marry Daniel. Maybe he never meet Daniel before. I thought that it was a good idea to run away from Daniel because he was very strange. In the future, I think she will get to the city and fly to San Francisco, or maybe she will live with the wolves. I think she will make it out of the wilderness alive. Maybe she will leave and sometimes come back to visit the wolves.

Chapter summary 3

In part 3 she is going to try to get out of the tundra. She sticks some weeds in a lake and then the next morning she takes them out and they form a sled. She will try to leave the tundra. She will have to leave the wolves. When she makes it out she meets some people. They tell her that Kapugen is still alive. She goes to the village and knocks on her father’s door. She finds out that he is married to a woman. She talks to him and he says that he went back for her but she had left. He said that he had left to become rich and then he would get her. At the end she will try to go to San Francisco.
