To her friend in San Francisco, she is Julie, but to her small Eskimo village, she is Miyax. She is thirteen and has a pearl round face, black hair and small eyes. She also has a flat nose, pale lips and rosy cheeks.

Julie is a fast learner and a very understanding and joyful girl. She is also quite brave. Julie also has a lot of knowledge learnt from her father, Kapugen.

Julie’s closest relative to her. Kapugen is also very brave. He taught many things she needed to know about wolves, what the day was just by looking at the Sun, and many more things. Julie is also very close to Kapu, the young wolf which she meets when running away from her husband, Daniel. Kapu is very playful and the “leader” of
the other young wolves. He understands Julie. Amy is also very close to Julie. Amy is Julie’s pen pal. She often writes to Julie. Amy is like Julie’s best friend. Julie is so close to Amy that she knows just about everything there is to know about her and her family, and even her house.
