Amaroq is a wolf and one of the main characters in the story.

He leads a pack of wolves, has bright yellow eyes, glistening fur and a watchful nature.

Amaroq accepts Miyax (Julie), into the pack willingly after a period of time. He keeps Miyax alive by coughing up chunks of half digested caribou which the starving Miyax hungrily wolfs down.

Amaroq works as a fierce hunter taking down animals much larger than himself. In my opinion Amaroq’s leadership is well chosen, because of the fact that he sets a good example for all the pups, disciplines them well, and can also be very persuasive when required.
