The Latin name for wolf is Canis lupus.

They are in the dog family.

Wolves live in Eastern Europe, India, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Middle East. Most wolves in North America are found in Alaska and Canada.

Wolves look like big dogs and way between 35-130 pounds. They range from 39 to 59 inches long without their tail. The tail is usually 12-22 inches long. Wolves can be chalk white to coal black.

They have sharp canines that allow them to rip through their prey.
